Wedding Request

6 MONTHS NOTICE IS REQUIRED

Congratulations on your engagement! This is one of the most exciting times in your life. I am honoured that you have asked me to officiate your wedding ceremony and/or renting the facilities at City Centre Baptist Church where I serve as pastor. If my standards meet with your approval, it will be a great privilege to participate in this exciting time in your life.

Please review the prerequisites below. I respectfully request that you both be in complete agreement with each of these requests. If you still desire my service in performing your wedding ceremony, please call Sophia Belnavis at the church office to set up a preliminary meeting. She arranges my appointment schedule.

  • You must be spiritually compatible. I am not permitted to marry a Christian to a non-believer (1 Corinthians 7:39).
  • I am willing to marry two people who do not profess to be Christians provided they are willing to allow me the right to perform a Christian ceremony.
  • You must be prepared to complete a marriage preparation study with a mentor couple who are appropriately trained in guiding your pre- marital counselling experience. It will require four to six sessions. Additionally, you must enroll in the Prepare-Enrich pre-marital counselling online evaluation. I will walk you through this once we have met (there will be a small fee paid to them). In the meantime, you can peruse their website at www.enrichcanada.ca. This will be utilized in the pre- marital counselling experience.
    • Alternatively, if you as a couple wish to pursue pre-marriage counseling with a trusted spiritual mentor, I am willing to forgo my involvement in the pre-marriage stage of your journey.
  • I will require a few days after our preliminary meeting to pray about my involvement in your wedding and to co-ordinate calendars.

If you are comfortable with my standards as described above, I look forward to the privilege of working with you to make certain that you have the best possible wedding day.

With sincere thanks and every blessing,

Pastor Deric W. Bartlett (Rev.)
