Pastor Charlie Costa preached from Acts 13:1–4 in a sermon titled “Commissioned to a Co-Mission.”
Through the sending of Barnabas and Saul from the church at Antioch, we were reminded that mission begins with God Himself. The Holy Spirit calls and sets apart His servants, the local church faithfully responds in prayer and obedience, and the labourers go forth in dependence upon the Lord who sends them. From beginning to end, the work of gospel ministry is God's work, carried out through His people for His glory.
This passage reminds us that believers are not merely spectators in God's mission, but fellow workers with Him in the advancement of the gospel. As the Spirit continues to call, the church must continue to pray, send, support, and participate in the work of making Christ known among the nations.
