Scars, Secrets, and Scandals (Part 2) | Deric Bartlett | 04-26-2026
Last Sunday, Pastor Deric preached from James 3:13–18 in Part 2 of the message titled “Secrets, Scars, and Scandals.”  Building on the call to wisdom, we were reminded that the kind of people we surround ourselves with matters deeply. While earthly wisdom is marked by jealousy and selfish ambition, wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of mercy, producing a life that reflects the character of Christ.

This passage calls us not only to examine our own hearts, but to pursue relationships shaped by godly wisdom. As we seek those who walk in humility, righteousness, and peace, we grow together in a way that bears lasting fruit for the glory of God. We are called to pursue wisdom from above, to walk in step with the Spirit, and to cultivate a community that reflects the peace and righteousness found in Christ.
